- Optional: compare another annual offer and work schedule by gross hourly equivalent.
How to convert salary to hourly
Hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year). With a standard 40-hour week and 52 weeks, that is salary ÷ 2,080. A $60,000 salary works out to about $28.85 an hour.
Quick rule of thumb
Halve your hourly rate and add “thousand” to estimate your annual salary: $25/hour ≈ $50,000/year. This works because a full-time year has roughly 2,000 working hours.
Unpaid time off
If you take unpaid vacation, reduce the weeks worked per year — for example 50 weeks if you take two weeks unpaid.
